Tabor Utley, "Sightseers" ca. 1945 | 22x28 - oil painting
Tabor Utley painted many murals during his career. This painting carries some of the story-telling of a mural as it depicts a group of seven on a journey by car, viewing the western landscape. The driver is attentively looking ahead while the passengers are taken with the variety of views before them. The focus of the painting is on the face of the young woman in the back seat, turned toward the viewer. The effect of the painting is humorous but at the same time it presents a document of time and place.
